Slough & S Bucks Observer 4 Aug 2014 " returned to Cippenham in 1921 having failed to appear at the end of hostilities. Refused to divulge where he had been in the missing years but deleted his name on the Memorial with black paint and then gave himself up as a deserter". Seamens Services on Ancestry confirm this.
