Major Nigel William Francis BAYNES
The Gloucester Regiment
Born 21st March 1878. Died 19th March 1915
and was laid to rest near this spot. Served in the
South African War 1899 - 1900, Northern Nigeria with
the West African Frontier Force July 1901 - August
1904. France with the Allies 1914 and was severely
wounded whilst leading his Company into action at
Festubert on December 21st 1914
