Information has been received that Private H Smith (Royal Berks Regiment) was killed in action in France on March 21, his widow Mrs Smith having received official notification of his death from the War Office. Deceased, who was 33 years of age, was the eldest son of Mr and Mrs W Smith of Ray Farm, Longwick. He was much respected by all who knew him and general sympathy is felt for his widow and parents in their bereavement. Pte Smith joined the Colours in January 1917 and served with the Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry. He was subsequently transferred to the Berkshires.
