In this cemetery there were buried 1678 sailors, soldiers
and marines of the British Empire. Of these, the names of
286 are known and their graves are marked. The names of
349 others are also unknown but their graves are unknown
and they are therefore commemorated on the lines of headstones
in the middle part of the cemetery.
