Their glory shall not be blotted out

In this cemetery there were buried 1678 sailors, soldiers and marines of the British Empire. Of these, the names of 286 are known and their graves are marked. The names of 349 others are also unknown but their graves are unknown and they are therefore commemorated on the lines of headstones in the middle part of the cemetery.

A letter, dated 4 July 1922, addressed to Frederick George Towersey, conferring the 1914-15 Star, the British War Medal, and the Victory Medal on his younger brother William R. Towersey.                                          Click to enlarge 'letter'
